< Back to Chile Wine Tours

After a brief flight on a full size jet over the stunning Andes Mountains you will arrive at the ultra modern airport of Santiago. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you, and you will be transported directly into the 500+ years of European history that is Chile today.
Visit the Moneda Palace, the seat of the government, the Plaza de Armas, and the historic district around the Cathedral. Stroll the wide, bustling pedestrian 'paseos' and wander the colorful Mercado Central, brought piece by piece from France more than 150 years ago. Your tour will ascend San Cristobal Hill, to pay respects to the statue of the Virgin--a gift from France-- as she spreads her arms over the 5.5 million inhabitants of the city that stretches across the plains below you. From here, the snow-capped Andes you just flew over, guard the city's eastern flanks.
Your hotel, the PanAmericana Providencia, is located on a quiet, tree-lined street, within easy walking distance of the bustling barrio of Providencia. It is complete with a sheltered courtyard, pool, and sunny, greenhouse style dining room. You will find this a safe, convenient location to explore local shops, cafes, and culture on your own. You can walk to a local restaurant, take an entirely safe taxi to where ever you like, take the suggestion of your driver/guide for dining spots, or choose one of Santiago's finest restaurant's from the list provided to you.
Relax on your own. Dinner on your own. Overnight at PanAmericana Hotel Providencia.
Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your host for a full day of touring Chile's central valleys and historical coastal cities.
Traveling directly east towards the Pacific, you tunnel through the low hills of the Central Mountain Range to reach the wine producing Casablanca valley. This regions is home to several of Chile's established vineyards as well as many new, boutique ones. The terroir here favors Chardonnay, which you will be able to appreciate at your first stop today, a wine tour and tasting. There are many to choose from. Indomita Winery produces mid-range and upper range wineries in their dramatic, abstract castle-inspired winery built on a hill overlooking the entire Casablanca Valley.
Continuing, you will arrive in Valparaiso, a UNESCO Heritage Site and Chile's oldest port. Visually, Valparaiso could be San Francisco, circa 1923, with sinuous cobbled streets that serve also as sidewalks and stairs and jaunty, impossibly ornate, wooden houses constructed at all angles. Chile's first stock exchange, first community fire department, first banks, universities, libraries, and most importantly, soccer teams, began here. Nobel prize winning poet, Pablo Neruda, set the trend for the city becoming the home and meeting place for both local and visiting artisans and writers. Clusters of eclectic architecture and rambling barrios spread across forty-five bayside hills which still today are serviced by fifteen 19th century cable-pulled 'funiculars'. There will be an opportunity to ride one of the fabled funiculars. Valparaiso is alluring, historic, delightfully dilapidated and a simply great place to explore. You have many options for lunch on your own. Your guide will help you choose: from seafront, to hilltop, quaint, to modern, local to international-level dining options.
Later you will pass through Vina del Mar, 'city of gardens' with its grand old casino, high-end commercial districts and flashy beach culture featuring South Americans at play. You will have time to enjoy this cosmopolitan bustle before returning to Santiago.
Relax on your own. Dinner on your own. Overnight at PanAmericana Hotel Providencia.
Day 3
