Fly Fishing
< Back to Activities & Adventures

Los Alerces Region - Rio Rivadavia
(Browns, Rainbows, Atlantic Salmon) This beautiful river is a favorite choice and is included in most itineraries. With two spring creeks, healthy browns and rainbows, it will take your breath and backing away. Flowing from Lago Rivadavia for seven miles into Lago Verde makes it a perfect full day float.

Rio Carrileufu (Atlantic Salmon, Rainbows, Brookies, Browns) The Carrileufu is a good landlocked Atlantic Salmon experience, with one of the healthiest population of Atlantic Salmon in the southern region. Also, the river is home to some of the strongest and hottest rainbows you'll ever encounter.

Rio Tigre (Rainbows, Atlantic Salmon) Flowing into Lago Cholila, this river is accessed by taking a motor boat to the Boca, where our fishing begins. Salmon stack up at the mouth and make for an exciting half day experience on foot. Rio Frey, Rio Arrayanes and Lago Verde are additional options that produce good action for rainbows and browns at different times during the season.

Esquel Region - Rio Grande (Browns, Rainbows, Chinook Salmon) This river, also called Futaleufu, meaning "Big Water," produces a nice mix of 40% browns with 60% rainbows on a day's float. This gorgeous tailwater fishery flows right down to the Chilean border, which is the take-out for our lower river float.

Rio Sigilo (Rainbows) This willow-lined stream flows through countless acres of ranch land with restricted access, meaning you will enjoy some of the best remote, secluded angling anywhere. And you'll be able to fish dry flies. Yep, great dry fly fishing throughout the river to amazing numbers of leaping bows. Three- and four-day camping float trips on water not available to any other outfitter.

Arroyo Pescado (Rainbows, Browns) This is definitely the crown jewel of relaxed South American spring creeks. Pink flamingos will be your witness to the incredible number of sixteen- to twenty-inch rainbows that will eat your grasshopper pattern until your arm is sore! Or if you don't like catching so many fish, you can test you skill at some monster bows.

Nant y Fall (Rainbows, Browns) This beautiful private spring creek will challenge the best anglers. The large fish in this creek will push you to the end of your tippet, skills, and patience.

Rio Pico / Corcovado Region - Upper Rio Corcovado (Brookies) As this river flows out of Lago Vintter, so do the big brookies. Ideal for the hearty souls searching for a trophy brook trout towards the end of the season.

Lower Rio Corcovado (Rainbows, Browns, Chinook Salmon) Long runs for trout and test the deeper holes for huge salmon that make their way up from the Pacific Ocean. Excellent dry fly fishing at varying times during the season.

Rio Pico (Browns, Rainbows) Perfect river for wading. Also requires a twenty minute walk to access. Nobody else but a gaucho passing by if you are lucky.

Lago Tres (Rainbows, Browns) Some of the best nymph and streamer fishing anywhere for really large rainbows and browns. Dry fly action at times.

Rio Nilsen (Rainbows, Browns) Another remote area great for wade fishing and rarely fished by others.

Itineraries
All trips will be tailored to each groups requests. Typically, in Patagonia, a five- to seven-day trip will be spent in the Los Alerces and Cholila regions. If this is a return trip, then Rio Pico and Esquel would be a great change of scenery. The ideal itinerary is a ten-day trip that gives enough time to explore all three regions. We will discuss and propose itineraries based on each groups desires. All special requests will be taken into consideration, and itineraries can be changed during your trip to put you on water fishing best at the time. This is possible because Rivers to Reefs is not "committed" to any particular logde--our only commitment is to your total satisfaction.
