We invite you to learn how to create marvelous Argentine cuisine with our renowned chef and his staff. He teaches many classes himself, and honestly, this is his favorite job. Always outgoing and friendly, he has a true passion for creating wonderful food. Our Chef offers private classes for groups of all sizes, but most classes consist of private groups of two to six people. Most classes are taught in the kitchens and around the parrillas at Chacras de Coria Lodge.
When you arrive at the class our chef and his staff will already have prepared a selection of cheeses and regional cold meats (hams, salami, goat cheese, mortadella, and more) to taste with an appropriate wine. Then the class begins with instruction and hands-on preparation. An example of one class would be as follows: 1- Mendocinean empanadas with local sauce. Learn to make the dough and filling, and how to put it all together. A special criolla sauce is out of this world! 2- Bife de Chorizo, a steak that is a combination of New York steak and sirloin steak, with chimichurri (a delicous spicy sauce), and grilled fresh vegetables, and fresh salads. 3- Typical Argentinian dessert: "vigilante clasico y helado" (cheese ice-cream and dulce de sweet potato cream). You have to taste this to believe how good it is. Learn how to cook in an horno de barro, a mud oven, everything from empanadas to meats and breads. Learn Argentine grilling techniques, and special ways to prepare beef, lamb, pork, chicken, rabbit, and goat. Of course, you can also learn the specialty of Argentine milanesas. Milanesa de cerdo? Que barbaro.
Cooking Class Options -- Classes can be included in any wine tour itinerary, or you can book classes separately. If you are staying with us, and are not participating in one of our wine tour package, we can schedule your cooking class once you arrive, at your convenience. We also offer cooking classes to visitors doing wine country trips on their own, and staying in other accommodations. If this is your situation, please call our Mendoza office to schedule your class at least 48 hours in advance.
