Postales del Plata Adventure Activities

Horseback ride, hike or 4X4 in the Andes, trek around Mt. Aconcagua, visit Inca ruins, white water rafting, and more.

Estancia El Puesto

Located in the Alto Valle de Uco, near Bodega Salentein, this spectacular ranch stretches from the valley to the towering Andean peaks that form the border with Chile. While horseback riding is the featured activity, you can also enjoy excursions such as trekking, mountain biking, 4x4 exploring, and fly-fishing. On your rides or hikes you'll find stunning landscapes with valley and mountain vistas, mysterious archeological remnants left by the Huarpes, and a plethora of animal and bird life, including condors, guanacos, and mountain lions. Bring your camera, and be prepared to use up a lot of disk space as you will want to capture a multitude of unique images.

When you arrive at the estancia, about a 25 minute drive from our Valle de Uco Lodge, you'll be greeted by your hosts and estancia owners. After refreshments, you'll begin your morning adventure....and assuming you take a horseback ride, you'll venture into the Andean foothills, and climb toward the snow-capped peaks. After the ride, 1 to 2 hours, you'll return to the ranch hacienda for fiambres, empanadas, and a sensational asado (barbecue) of Argentine beef, fresh salads, homemade bread, and specially selected wines. After the feast, you can take a siesta, another horseback ride, a hike along the beautiful freestone creek that flows past the hacienda, or head out for a visit to a nearby Valle de Uco winery.

Aconcagua Mountain is the highest summit in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most challenging and popular in the seven thousand meter circuit. It is also special as an introduction to big heights since its elevation and geographic and weather conditions constitute an ideal setting both for moderate demands and as preparation for the more exacting challenges posed by the eight thousand meter and other peaks in the Himalayas. The "Colossus of America" is the goal of climbers from all over the world as well as an attraction to thousands of tourists per year who come enjoy its natural beauty and treasure this unique and magnificent presence. Lots of options.....take photos, a short hike, or a full expedition.

Puente del Inca is the perfect way to compliment your trip to Aconcagua. This valley is located 2820 meters above sea level, with a dramatic landscape that embodies its rich history. The name comes from the famous Natural Bridge above Cuevas River, which is a unique wonder of nature. There are thermal pools with a strong minerals that petrify any object exposed to their action over time, and an overall sense that you are stepping into the past.

Additional activities include white water rafting, mountain biking, 4X4 excursions and more. All adventure activities can be included in any wine tour itinerary.
